Are you leaving school, looking for work, or wanting to reskill or upskill in an in-demand industry? JobTrainer could offer you access to a free or low-fee vocational education and training (VET) course. Through JobTrainer you can study an accredited diploma, certificate or a short course. These courses can prepare you for work in fast-growing industries that need skilled workers.

Who is eligible?
Under JobTrainer, you may be able to study a free or low fee course if you are:
- aged 17–24
- leaving school
- looking for work
- wanting to study, upskill or reskill in courses in aged care, disability care, childcare or digital skills.
We have extended JobTrainer to give more Australians access to free or low-fee training, helping to skill the Australian workforce for the future.

Support for businesses to retain apprentices and trainees

Supporting apprentices and trainees(External website, Opens in new window)
The Australian Government is offering eligible small and medium businesses a wage subsidy of 50 per cent of their eligible apprentice or trainee’s wages, up to $7,000 per quarter, paid until 31 March 2021.
Commencing apprentices(External website, Opens in new window)
Businesses of any size may be able to claim the Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements wage subsidy for new apprentices, recommencing apprentices or trainees from 5 October 2020 to 31 March 2022.
