    Economists research, analyse, create forecasts and test theory about trade markets, consumer spending and financial behaviour. They often provide advice on economic policies and issues to governments and organisations.

    Work is in offices, but travel may be required.

    Day-to-day

    • analyse information and data on the economy and make economic forecasts
    • develop economic policies and theories
    • study the effects of government policies on the economy and the community
    • investigate international and national economic situations and trends
    • advise Government, businesses or organisations on economic matters
    • write reports on research findings and give presentations
    • make presentations at forums or public events.
