Overview

Conference and event organisers plan, organise, promote and run events, conferences and functions for their clients, who may be individuals or families, charities, private companies or public organisations.

Work is in an office and at the site for an event. Weekend, evening and early morning work may be required.

Suitable for those with good communication and customer service skills. Attention to detail and strong skills in planning and organisation are essential.

Day-to-day

  • develop and present concepts and ideas based on client requirements
  • create and manage event plans, schedules and budgets
  • book venues, equipment and catering
  • arrange signage, audio visual, transport, accommodation and ticketing
  • work closely with clients, contractors, staff and volunteers
  • promote and market the event or conference, and deal with customer enquiries
  • evaluate and assess past events.
